The EEL fishing for Monster Striped Bass has been great some days and terrible the next. We had very slow days of fishing on Wed and Thursday but found a couple big ones on Friday’s charter Ricky landed the first big one which was a little over 41lbs but Billy Hogan took home the big fish pool with our first fish of the fall season over 50lbs the officially weight was 54lbs and only 49 inches. The fish had nothing in his stomach. This fish was caught within casting distance of buoy 36.
On Saturday we fish the first annual Toby’s Dream Foundation Rockfish tournament with high hopes. First place prize was a fishing trip to Costa Rica.
My crew and I was catching the second fish of the day when I realized that if we do not screw this fish up we might be seating pool side trying to speak Spanish to order more beers but doing the final moments of fight the fish spit the hook. After a few words and several hours of fishing with no more bites. I realized that I was still fishing in 46 degree water and not headed to the warmer waters of Costa Rica.
Congrad’s to Capt Steve Wray and the crew of ocean pearl for there first place win.
We ended up in third place and won a 7 day trip to snow shoe, WV. Looking forward to a little R and R after the season with the family in WV.
All fish on Friday and Saturday were caught near the Baltimore shipping channel in 46degree water near buoy 36 and 38.
