Hi folks!
Surf Rider Restaurant is finally open! Monday – Tuesday at 4pm and Wednesdays through Sundays at 11am. I usually eat lunch there every Wednesday with my Grandfather-in-Law. Hopefully we’ll see you there.
Be sure to check out the SAVE THE DATE section of this month’s blog so you can mark your calendars for our monthly DockWars, Annual Member Appreciation Party, 1st Annual Monarch Cobia Tournament, Live Music Schedule, Tuna Tournament, and more!
The Virginia Beach Tuna Tournament will be celebrating their 13th Anniversary this June and we’re expecting a big crowd, as always. Please mark your calendars as we will be closing down the dry storage building at 6pm, Saturday, June 24th in preparation of the Tuna Tournament Awards Ceremony. We will take night launch requests before 6pm so boats can be accessible. Don’t worry, we will continue to remind you of this temporary closing. If you plan on attending, I say UBER!!!! It’s your best friend.
In this issue:
Please keep in mind, all leases, even month-to-month leases, require a 30 day notice to cancel the auto-renewal of your lease. If your lease ends on 05/31/2017, your notice needs to be submitted by 05/01/2017 at the latest.

Boating Season is HERE. If you haven’t had a chance to prepare, try to plan out some time this month to clear off your dock, pack away unused items and finish up a little Spring Cleaning on your boat.
Remember: All boats in the marina are to be seaworthy and in compliance with all local and federal laws, and are to be maintained in a sound condition with a current and lawful registration and equipped with an adequate propulsion. Sound condition is further defined as being generally tidy and clean in appearance.
Docks: Docks are to be kept clean at all times. Loose gear is not to be stored on the docks. Hoses and electric lines should not cross docks.
Grills: The charcoal grills and patio at the east side of the parking lot near I Dock are for members’ use. Please do not leave any hot fires unattended. Use trash receptacles for your garbage, DO NOT put hot embers in the trash receptacles. Use the metal / ash can for charcoal ashes. Fire Extinguishers and Water Hoses are available for emergencies. Use of these grills is at your own risk. Call 911 if fire spreads beyond the grill. Charcoal fires or grills of any kind are NOT PERMITTED on docks or on boats at the dock.
Bicycles: Please use the bike racks to store your bikes. DO NOT store bikes at the entrance to the dock ramps. Bikes found at the entrance to ramps are subject to confiscation.

Because of your vote of confidence, we have won the GOLD award
for BEST MARINA and BEST WEDDING VENUE for 2017!
Which dock is the BEST dock at Marina Shores?? We are asked this frequently when talking to new customers. Well, there’s no better way to find out than to put each dock to the test.
During our monthly Member Socials in June (6/8), July (7/13) & August (8/10), each dock will have the opportunity to compete against the other docks for the title of “BEST DOCK”.
If your boat is moored on H-Dock, you’re on the H-Dock team. F-Dock is the F-Dock Team and so on.
Marina Shores will put together one family-friendly competition per month with each dock acting as a team. The winning dock each month will get to fly the “BEST DOCK” flag, sponsored by Captain Max King’s Marine, on their pier for that month.
Will your team have its own name? Will you show up in team colors? Let’s see which dock really is the “BEST DOCK”.
*Dry Storage members are eligible to represent E-Dock in each DockWAR.
Spring is finally here….Schedule your spring work now so that you are not left waiting around while everyone else is enjoying their boat!

Reminders As You Prepare for Boating Season
Vessel Safety Checks: Vessel Safety Checks are the best way to prevent being boarded by local authorities for on-water inspections. Call Marina Shores member and Coast Guard Auxiliary member, Craig Huber at 757-828-6393, to schedule a convenient time to have your boat inspected prior to your next outing.
Call-Ahead Launches: Monday through Thursday (except holidays) you are welcome to call ahead to have your boat launched to the water. Friday, Saturday and Sunday you must be on the property and check-in at the Launch Office to have your boat launched. You must be present before requesting a work rack.
Night Launches: A night launch is when a boat owner wants their boat taken out of dry storage but will not arrive to use it until after closing hours of the Dry Storage building. Night launch reservations must be made to the Launch Office at least one hour prior to the close of business.
Docks: Docks are to be kept clean at all times. Loose gear is not to be stored on the docks. Grills and propane tanks are strictly prohibited.
Trailer Loads/Unloads: As a member of Marina Shores, you will receive two complimentary trailer loads, one when you arrive and one when you terminate at the end of the lease period. Any additional member trailer loads will incur an expense of $50.00 each time. Please schedule these at least 24 hours in advance with the Admin Office.
Wet Slips for Dry Storage Customers: Dry Storage members MUST call the Administration Office Monday – Friday 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM to reserve the use of a complimentary, weekend wet slip. A slip will be assigned to you for the duration of the time reserved. There are a limited number of slips available, assigned on a first come first serve basis. The boat must be returned to Dry Storage at the end of the day your reservation ends.
Work Racks: Work racks are available to members on a first-come, first-serve basis. Owner-performed repairs and maintenance on a boat will be allowed if such work is performed in a reasonable manner and does not inconvenience or disturb Marina tenants. The extent of boat repairs and maintenance at dockside are at the discretion of the Marina’s management. Power washing and bottom paintings are not allowed to be performed by members on the Marina’s property or over an impervious surface. All work is done at owner’s risk. Boats left unattended for more than 30 minutes will be returned to their assigned storage location. You must be present to request a work rack; no call-ins. Wet slip customers receive one free work rack per month (upon availability) Monday thru Wednesday (holidays excluded). Any additional day after the first three days will be charged at a rate of $20 per day.
Garbage: Marina Shores Litter Prevention Program. Please help us keep our Marina clean and free of all debris by using the trash containers located at the head of each dock. It is illegal to dispose of any used batteries, oil, or any other environmentally unsafe materials in the trashcans or dumpsters. It is the responsibility of the boat owner, or subcontractor, to dispose of these materials properly by removing it from the premises. Remember, cigarette butts do not belong in the water.
