Boating at Marina Shores

My boat is in dry storage. Can I use it after hours?
Yes, of course. If you are looking to use your boat before or after hours, call the main office at 757-496-7000, AT LEAST 1 HOUR BEFORE CLOSING, and request the “launch office.” Ask for a NIGHT LAUNCH. At the end of the day our lift drivers will pull your boat and place it in a holding pier for your easy access. When you return; tie up your boat in a holding pier and first thing in the morning when we open, our lift drivers put all boats back inside the building.
Dry storage members may also reserve a weekend wetslip each weekend at no extra cost. Simply call the Admin Office as early as 8:30am the Monday before each weekend and request a slip. Slips are first come, first serve, based upon availability and available Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED.
If you reach a voicemail when calling, please hang-up and try again. We recommend not relying on a phone message to leave your reservation request.
If you forget your slip assignment at any time, please call the office and we can remind you of your slip number.
How do you charge for boat storage?
The measurements of your boat and the length of your lease determine all lease rates. If you are in Dry Storage, our staff will measure the length and height of your boat. If you are a Wet Slip member, the length of your boat and the length of your lease determine your rate.
Length is measured from bow to stern, including any swim platforms or engine brackets. Engines are not included in the length. Height is measured from the keel to the highest point on the boat (including any towers or radar antennas).
Can you store sailboats?
Possibly. There are up to three bridges boats must clear when entering our marina. The lowest clearance is approximately 26′ at mean-high tide. If the boat’s mast can clear the bridge OR travel around Bay Island to enter in the back entrance from Broad Bay, we are certainly happy to provide a wet slip.
I need maintenance / engine repair for my boat. Are there any restrictions on service?
One advantage we offer members is the freedom to choose who works on their boat. Captain Max King’s Marine and Virginia Beach Boats are both ON-SITE Service Contractors. You may contact them and request a quote on the service you need for your boat. If you have a different mechanic you prefer to work with, they are allowed to work on your boat at our marina as long as they abide by our Contractor Requirements. We also provide work racks for general maintenance. EPA regulations prohibit any boater from pressure washing or bottom painting over an impervious surface, such as our concrete pad. Virginia Beach Boats or other professional contractors must perform these services.

Are you closed in the winter months?
We stay open and active year round with adjusted winter hours. The Administrative Office is open from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM and Saturday from 9 AM – 4 PM, Closed Sunday. December through February, the office may close early at 4pm.
The following are the adjusted hours for the Dry Storage:
In our Rules & Regulations, Marina Shores reserves the right to close down operations if there is inclement weather. In the case of such event, our staff will post signage and announcements on our Facebook page.
What can I do if a hurricane is approaching?
If you are in Dry Storage, you do not need to do anything.
If you are a Wet Slip Customer and within our forklift capacity, call ahead of time and ask if you can be stored inside the Dry Storage building during the storm. Our larger boats, starting around 30’ or larger, most likely cannot be lifted. We encourage all Wet Slip members to stow all loose gear, lock all compartments and double down your lines. In the past 20 years, Marina Shores has never flooded. All of our docks are floating docks with tall enough pylons to provide you with enough clearance even in the strongest storm surges this area has experienced. Read more about Hurricane Preparedness HERE.
Waterway Club Members enjoy free hurricane storage inside our Dry Storage building (within lift capacity. Reservations taken upon space available. Hurricane Storage begins the day a hurricane warning is posted for the Hampton Roads area. Hurricane Storage ends the day after the storm has passed.
Non-Members may call in (757) 496.7000 and request temporary storage.
